Not by appearance shall he judge,
nor by hearsay shall he decide,
But he shall judge the poor with justice,
and decide aright for the land’s afflicted.
He shall strike the ruthless with the rod of his mouth,
and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.
Justice shall be the band around his waist,
and faithfulness a belt upon his hips.

No juzgará por las apariencias
ni de oídas decidirá,
sino que juzgará a los pobres con justicia
y decidirá rectamente por los afligidos de la tierra.
Golpeará a los despiadados con la vara de su boca
y con el aliento de sus labios matará a los malvados.

We see an image today of the just judge wearing justice and faithfulness and slaying the ruthless and wicked. What kind of garment would you choose to personify your understanding of justice and faithfulness? A suite of armor? A luxurious coat? An itchy sweater? Each one of us defines justice differently just as we all wear different types of clothing. Sometimes talking about justice and engaging in these difficult conversations makes us feel like we are wearing that itchy sweater. Do you wear justice and faithfulness as an itchy sweater or as a garment fit for the table of the eternal kingdom?

Hoy vemos una imagen del juez justo que viste justicia y fidelidad y mata a los despiadados y malvados. ¿Qué tipo de vestimenta elegirías para personificar lo que tú entiendes por justicia y fidelidad? ¿Una armadura? ¿Un abrigo lujoso? ¿Un sueter de lana que pica? Cada uno de nosotros define la justicia de manera diferente, igual que todos llevamos distintos tipos de ropa. A veces, hablar de justicia y entablar estas conversaciones difíciles nos hace sentir como si lleváramos puesto ese sueter que pica. ¿Llevas la justicia y la fidelidad como un sueter que pica o como una prenda adecuada para la mesa del reino eterno?
