In his days Judah shall be saved, Israel shall dwell in security. (Jer 23:6a) He shall govern your people with justice
and your afflicted ones with judgment. (Ps 72:2cd) When Joseph awoke, he did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him
and took his wife into his home. (Mt 1:24)
“En sus días se salvará Judá, Israel habitará seguro. (Jer 23:6a) Gobernará a tu pueblo con justicia
y a tus afligidos con juicio. (Sal 72,2cd) Cuando José despertó, hizo lo que el ángel del Señor le había ordenado y acogió a su mujer en su casa. (Mt 1,24)”

Safety. Justice. Compassion. These are three things that seem to be in short supply in the world. Every day, we hear of human beings threatening the security of others, people profiting from unfair practices, and the hardhearted who seem to lack any shred of sympathy. What are we to do? The tide may be strong and headed in the wrong direction, but there is one to come who will right the wrongs. And until that time, we have it in our power to resist evil whenever and wherever we encounter it. We can pray for the strength to do this. We don’t have to wait for the Second Coming or for an agent of God to angelically deliver a message from on high. How do you prepare the world for the tremendous, eternal reign of God? How do you prepare your heart for a vulnerable, newborn baby in a manger?
Seguridad. Justicia. Compasión. Son tres cosas que parecen escasear en el mundo. Todos los días oímos hablar de seres humanos que amenazan la seguridad de los demás, de personas que se benefician de prácticas injustas y de personas de corazón duro que parecen carecer de toda pizca de simpatía. ¿Qué podemos hacer? Puede que la marea sea fuerte y vaya en la dirección equivocada, pero vendrá alguien que corregirá los errores. Y hasta que llegue ese momento, está en nuestra mano resistir al mal dondequiera y cuandoquiera que nos encontremos con él. Podemos rezar para tener la fuerza de hacerlo. No tenemos que esperar a la Segunda Venida ni a que un agente de Dios nos envíe un mensaje desde lo alto. ¿Cómo preparas al mundo para el reino tremendo y eterno de Dios? ¿Cómo preparas tu corazón para un recién nacido vulnerable en un pesebre?
