MYSTAGOGY MOMENT:
“Therefore, let us celebrate this feast, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”
It takes time for yeast to rise. The same is true for us; we need time to clear the wickedness out of our hearts so that truth can shine. We need to rise out of our sinfulness. Even if the yeast is not perfect, it will still make bread. It might not rise as high as we wish it would, but it will still be bread. We are tainted by sin and temptation, but we are still God’s children. God still opens the gates of heaven for us through his mercy and forgiveness and through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. How can you celebrate the resurrection within yourself? Will your yeast be the yeast of malice and wickedness or the yeast of sincerity and truth?
