The Call of Abraham

Year 1  ( 2022 – 2023 )

Text:

Genesis 6:5-22; 8:6-12; 9:8-17

Summary:

Noah builds the ark. In the midst of the flood, Noah sends out the raven and dove.
God establishes a covenant with Noah’s family and gives the rainbow as a sign.

Prayer of Confession

Eternal God,
You have been our refuge from one generation to another,
before the mountains were formed or the earth was born,
from age to age you were and are our living God.
You are the God of Abraham and Sarah,
in whom you chose a covenant people
to bless all families of the earth.
As you called to Abraham, so you call to us:
to go into the world to follow you
beyond our cares and comforts,
beyond our faith and doubt,
beyond all that seems sensible and safe,
trusting only in your promise.
Forgive our faltering faithfulness.
Grant us Abraham’s courage, Sarah’s laughter,
and your unfailing grace.
