First Sunday of Lent • Year B
“Show this sinner the way.
Guide your servant to justice, lead me to safety.
Show me the way”
Today’s scripture is all about promises, commitment, and trust. That is what the next 40 days are about as well. In Genesis, God established his covenant with us. In baptism, we reaffirm our covenant with God, rejecting sin, vowing to follow Jesus, and avoiding the temptation of false, empty promises. This week, how can we align our actions with our commitment? Do we believe that God will show us the way and keep us safe? As we enter the season of Lent, let us remember and trust in the love and truth that has been promised to us, and let us live what we have promised in return.

La Escritura de hoy trata de promesas, compromiso y confianza. De eso tratarán también los próximos 40 días. En el libro del Génesis, Dios estableció su alianza con nosotros. En el bautismo, reafirmamos nuestra alianza con Dios, rechazamos el pecado, juramos seguir a Jesús y evitamos la tentación de las promesas falsas y vacías. Esta semana, ¿cómo podemos alinear nuestras acciones con nuestro compromiso? ¿Creemos que Dios nos mostrará el camino y nos mantendrá a salvo? Al entrar en el tiempo de Cuaresma, recordemos y confiemos en el amor y la verdad que se nos han prometido, y vivamos lo que hemos prometido a cambi
